a week of singing to our Savior, to our Jesus

Last Thursday, I went to Jayne's house for Congolese worship and Bible time, where we sang in Swahili, Lingala, and French with our brothers and sisters from Africa.

Last Tuesday, my ESL students came over for a picnic in the 711 parking lot and garage, and brought music, so we could dance and sing in Spanish with our brothers and sisters from Central and South America.

Last night, Kevan and I went to TCF's new church building with some friends, where we sat in a big echoey skeleton of a sanctuary and sang in English with our brothers and sisters from Winston-Salem.

I love that Christians can sing songs of praise together, no matter where they are from or where they gather. I love that God is pleased with our praise in every language.

Baan Thai, Buenas Noches, Bon Voyage, Good-Bye!

Today is Fiesta Day here at International House. We are celebrating a summer well-done and the my approaching departure. Pam, Hilina, Jayne, Tara, and dear Mister Ron and I went to Baan Thai for lunch, where we ate rice, rice, and more rice. Rice with soy sauce, rice with sweet and sour sauce, rice with chili paste, rice with coconut milk... oh, the rice. I'm so glad God came up with the concept of rice. and friends.

Sannu came this morning for our last one-on-one time together, and she finished her story. It's nothing earth-shaking, and "not the greatest work of fiction in our time," but it is her own, and it is in English, and she has every right to be proud of her accomplishment. She can't wait til I get back. :)

Tonight we will party with those who know how: Hispanics. My Tuesday/Thursday ESL group is bringing heaps and heaps of food like tostadas, tamales, and chocoflan. There will be music, games, swimming, and maybe even dancing. Can't wait!

I'm going to spend my day tomorrow doing laundry and packing, so I probably won't post again til I'm back in NC. Thank you to all of you who have been praying for me this summer, and making me feel like my blog is something important to you. You are important to me and I love you!
